A plume of moisture is heading toward the region and will bring heavy rainfall and strong winds before it heads out.
The National Weather Service Office in Seattle forecast calls for a 100 percent chance of precipitation on Tuesday, Jan. 6, with between three-quarters to 1 inch of new rainfall possible in Thurston County.
The outlook calls for a stout south wind of 14 to 20 miles per hour (mph) with gusts as high as 38 mph. The daytime high should be near 45 degrees.
Rain is likely, mainly before 10 p.m. on Tuesday, with new amounts between one-tenth and one-quarter inch possible. A southwest wind of 7 to 9 mph is in the forecast with an overnight low around 36 degrees.
There is a 100 percent chance of precipitation on Wednesday, Jan. 7, with new rainfall amounts between one-quarter and one-half inch possible. The daytime high should be near 43 degrees with a south wind of 9 to 13 mph and gusts as high as 22 mph.
There is a 90 percent chance of precipitation on Wednesday evening, with new rainfall amounts of less than one-tenth of an inch possible. The overnight low should be around 34 degrees. A south, southwest wind is forecast at around 9 mph.
Rain is also likely on Thursday, Jan. 8. Forecasts are subject to change.
