A trucker fought off an allegedly crazed man who claimed that President Joe Biden was his grandfather after the man opened the trucker’s vehicle door and began assaulting him just after midnight on Tue., June 15.

Aaron Northrup, 32, of Olympia, allegedly began assaulting the trucker who was sitting in his vehicle’s cab at O’Reilly Auto Parts on 3934 Pacific Ave SE in Lacey.

The trucker, 62, of Parkland, stated that Northrup had approached his vehicle and started ranting and raving, saying that Northrup wanted to fight. Northrup opened the trucker’s door, beating him with a phone cord. The trucker used his foot to push Northrup back so he could close the door, then drove away, calling 911.

When Lacey police contacted Northrup, he mumbled that he was associated with the “Secret Service,” then walked toward the back of the LPD patrol vehicle, opened the rear driver’s side door, and sat inside the backseat.

The LPD officer closed the door behind Northrup, who continued to make statements that President Joe Biden was his grandfather.

The driver had “a small welt/ bruising on [his] arm from where he had been struck by the phone cord” during the fight with Northrup, according to Lacey police.

Northrup was booked into the Nisqually Jail for misdemeanor assault.
