The Summit Virtual Academy Class of 2025 graduated in a commencement ceremony held at James Koval Center for the Performing Arts in Lacey on Tuesday, June 10.
The commencement ceremony began with the processional of the graduates, accompanied by Imagine Dragons’ “On Top of the World. Principal Becky Lee delivered the opening remarks.
Graduate Eleazar Cuevas Lorenzo recited the Pledge of Allegiance and the North Thurston Public Schools Land Acknowledgement, followed by an introduction delivered by fellow graduate Elisabeth Singian.
Superintendent Troy Oliver delivered welcoming remarks to the graduates and their guests, and Principal Rebecca Lee delivered an address to the attendees. A senior slideshow was shown immediately preceding the presentation of the class and diplomas.
Summit presented 49 diplomas to the Class of 2025. Valedictorian Payton Moore gave an address and led the turning of the tassels. School Counselor Laiklyn Pine delivered closing remarks, and graduates recessed to Green Day’s “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).”
Each of the five North Thurston Public Schools Board of Directors were in attendance for the ceremony: President Gretchen Maliska of District 1, Tiffany Sevruk of District 2, Sarah Tracy of District 3, Vice President Esperanza Badillo-Diiorio of District 4 and Michelle Gipson of District 5.
Summit Virtual Academy is a free, online K-12 school where students can learn at home and are part of North Thurston Public Schools in Lacey.
