Sunday in the Park with George

The South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) Theatre Collective presents Sunday in the Park with George at the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts Main Stage from May 26 to June 4, 2023.

Sunday in the Park with George, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine, pays homage to art and artists as it explores the challenges and sacrifices artists make to innovate and survive. It imagines episodes in the brief life of George Seurat, finishing his now-famous pointillist painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte from 1884 to 1886. In the second act, which takes place 100 years later, Seurat's great-grandson is introduced, an artist who creates electronic sculptures and is struggling to reignite his creative spark.

The cast includes Chris Bolduc, Jesse Morrow, Sue Rudisill, Sara St. Clair, Ben Matthews, Brianna Hines, Jed Slaughter, Lesley Gordon, Daniel Overton, Cass Manalastas, Kyle Murphy, George Dougherty, Dan Cutter, as well as SPSCC students Laura Kohut, Michelle Wall, and Maiya Tate.

No tickets are required for the show. Admission is a suggested $15 donation at the door and free to SPSCC students, staff, and faculty. More information, including performance dates and times, is available on the college’s Arts & Entertainment page.
