Suspect arrested for Sept. 4 shooting in downtown Olympia

Olympia Police Department (OPD) reported that they arrested a 36-year-old man in connection with the Sept. 4 shooting incident at the Intercity Transit station in downtown Olympia. 

In a press release published on Thu., Sept. 24, the OPD shared that a 36-year old Olympia resident has been charged with felony assault in the first degree and is being held at the Thurston County Jail. As of 5 p.m. today the police department has yet to confirm the suspect’s identity.

The arrest was made in connection to the violent encounter between Antifa, and the Proud Boys at the Intercity Transit Station near State Avenue and Franklin Street in downtown Olympia. In a CCTV footage, the video showed one protester firing a shot and hitting a member of the Proud Boys before he fled the scene. 

“This investigation, as well as investigations into other disturbances that happened that day, is ongoing,” the OPD wrote in a statement. They also encourage anyone who can provide information regarding the incident to reach out or call at 360.753.8300.
