Suspects in theft from outlet mall arrested after police chase

Thurston County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) arrested a group suspected of stealing from a retail store following a chase across several jurisdictions.

On the early night of March 4, Thurston County deputies were alerted by the Centralia Police Department (CPD) about an unlicensed vehicle suspected of eluding police, TCSO reported in their news release.

The vehicle, suspected to have passengers allegedly involved in organized retail theft, was spotted traveling northbound on I5 from Maytown.

In anticipation of another attempt to flee, TCSO units tailed the suspect vehicle from a safe distance while additional units placed spikes ahead to try making a traffic stop, but the suspect vehicle refused to yield and resorted to cutting off a semi-truck before exiting the freeway, losing pursuing deputies.

TCSO and CPD units tracked the vehicle again in Tumwater, maintaining surveillance without emergency lights.

The pursuit ended when the vehicle turned onto a dead-end road in a residential area, where law enforcement officers executed a felony stop.

All occupants were arrested without incident; stolen items were found inside the vehicle after a closer inspection.

“The vehicle was filled with stolen property from the Centralia outlet mall,” TCSO stated in their news release.

The suspects and the vehicle were handed over to CPD to process existing warrants and new charges related to the pursuit and organized retail theft.

Good for TCSO & CPD for executing a professional, patient & apparently safe tracking, pursuit & arrest. May the thieves spend a good amount of time in custody.
