Curated by Elizabeth Lord and managed by Jordanna Averett

Tales Told in 10 is an intergenerational 24-hour play festival hosted annually at Olympia Family Theater. Join them for the first time since the start of the pandemic for an exuberant theatrical marathon curated by the ever-fabulous Elizabeth Lord.

What does this 24-hour play festival look like, exactly? From Feb 10-12, 6 playwrights, 6 directors, and a troupe of intergenerational community actors will come together to craft 6 original 10-minute plays in just one day. People meet as a cohort on Friday night, the writers will work on original material overnight, and then directors and actors will put each play up on its feet on Saturday. They will host performances on Saturday and Sunday. Along the way, they will build community, tell new stories, eat all the snacks, and participate in an artistic pressure cooker.

Important things to note:

  1. They are looking for actors ages 13 and up.
  2. They are looking for directors and playwrights ages 18 and up.
  3. Once you apply, your materials will be reviewed. You will hear from someone on their team by mid-January whether you are accepted into the festival or not.
  4. Actors must be available for the entire festival, i.e. Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. Directors and playwrights must be available Friday evening through Saturday evening.

Will you join them? Apply to be part of the festival today. Applications for all roles are due by January 8, 2023.
