TCSO Corrections sergeant resigns amid internal investigation

A Thurston County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) Corrections sergeant, who stands accused of first-degree voyeurism, has resigned in the middle of an internal investigation.

The unnamed sergeant was arrested on May 18. That was followed by an independent investigation led by the Olympia Police Department, while the sheriff’s office launched an internal review.

On July 1, while the internal investigation was nearing completion, the sergeant submitted a resignation letter. The resignation was accepted, but the internal process continued.

According to TCSO, due to the discovery of policy violations committed by the sergeant, the internal findings would have led to termination had the resignation not been submitted.

A notice of separation will be forwarded to the state’s Criminal Justice Training Commission, which has the authority to decertify officers found to have committed serious misconduct, ensuring the sergeant will not be hired by other law enforcement agencies.

“We will remain available to the Olympia Police Department should any future assistance be needed in their criminal investigation to ensure justice is carried out for the victim in this case,” TCSO stated.
