The Strophy Foundation is going to host a Texas Hold’em poker tournament on Oct. 25 to benefit Thurston County therapeutic courts.
Each ticket purchase directly supports the foundation’s mission to bridge funding gaps in Thurston County’s DUI/Drug Court Program.
The foundation said in announcing the event that each seat at the table fuels accountability, recovery and second chances for veterans, families in recovery, and neighbors managing mental health needs.
“Every hand played helps remove real-world barriers — like work attire, child care, transportation, and training — that can keep participants in our community’s therapeutic courts from moving forward,” the foundation’s website states.
The event has a $95 entry fee per person, with up to two rebuys at $50 each. A cash bar with beer and wine is also going to be available.
Doors open at 5 p.m., followed by a tutorial and tournament rules orientation at 5:45 p.m. The tournament, which begins at 6 p.m., is being held at Columbian Hall, 6794 Martin Way E in Lacey.
Attendees can expect appetizers, bucket raffles, 50/50 raffles and other prizes.
Community members can register for the event as a participant or sponsor. People who cannot attend the event may also choose to donate here.
