Third arrest in shooting of teen

Thurston County sheriff deputies arrested a third suspect in the nonfatal shooting of a 19-year-old Olympia man earlier this month.

The 19-year-old suspect was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder. The suspect’s name was not released in a sheriff’s office press release, because the suspect has not yet been charged by the county prosecutor’s office.

Two other suspects, Donzale A. Stewart and Aaron Carrol, both 19, were arrested Nov. 12 and charged with first-degree assault with a deadly weapon. The third suspect to be arrested is believed to be the one who shot the victim four times on Nov. 8, according to deputies.

The evening of Nov. 8, deputies were searching for the suspect in an unrelated disturbance in Lacey. They found the suspect in 7100 block of Englewood Drive Southeast, suffering from four gunshot wounds. The victim was hospitalized for his injuries.

Deputies learned the victim had challenged Carrol to a fight after Carrol learned the victim had allegedly assaulted a person he knew.

Carrol then arrived at the victim’s residence with the two other suspects, and a fight ensued. Stewart allegedly struck the victim with a bat. The victim was then shot four times as he was attempting to flee. Court documents do not specify who fired the shots, although a recent press release from the sheriff’s office indicates investigators believe the suspect arrested this week fired the gun.

The suspect is being held in the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.
