Maybe a flag headline, too?

This is a TEST

Still need to work out periodicity of these reports and headline formats

Posted

Wyatt - we've had requests to add this.  And we probably should kick around some ideas about how to make it better than the other guys' sections.  Maybe an easier-to-read format? Maybe avoid using any acronyms and simply spell out the words?

The county makes inspections any day of the week.  I'm not sure how often they post them, though, so we might need to tinker with our frequency of publishing these.  Might be that we start each week with a new story item - e.g., #27702 - and then add to it throughout the week as new reports are posted.

The other guys' stories include headlines that suggest the reports are from that day when, in fact, they are several days old. Seems inauthentic to me.

Here's copy VJ copied from the county:

How to Read Restaurant Inspection Scores

Restaurant inspection reports focus on two types of violations: red and blue.

Red violations are the most serious and are most likely to cause food-borne illness. These must be corrected immediately or within a deadline set by the health officer.

Blue violations relate to cleanliness and facility conditions and are corrected on a set compliance schedule.

A reinspection is required if:

  • Red points exceed 45, or
  • Total red and blue points exceed 65.

If red points exceed 100 and inspectors find poor managerial control, the establishment may be shut down. Closures can also happen at any time if there is an immediate health hazard, regardless of score. Reopening requires proof that all violations have been corrected.

Common Inspection Abbreviations

  • PHF/TCS – Potentially Hazardous Food / Time Control for Safety
  • RTE – Ready-to-Eat
  • PIC – Person in Charge
  • FWC – Food Worker Card
  • CDI – Corrected During Inspection
