Luke Fenner is the lone representative of the SPSCC's Clippers in the men’s golf championship after ranking 30th out of 61 participants from 11 competing NWAC schools, averaging a gross score of 81.3 from the four league golf invites held this season.

“I feel honored to be a part of a new program and I’m excited to play the championship,” said Fenner after his qualification to the men’s final.

In women’s golf, both Grace Hurley and Vicki Steigner of the Clippers women’s golf roster also booked their tickets to the championship after a decent overall showing in the golf meets with average gross scores of 108.6 and 124.8, respectively.

The SPSCC Golf program is in its first-ever season and is spearheaded by Head Coach Russell Olsen, debuting with their first friendly golf meet in the Grays Harbor/PLU Invitational last September and competing in their first NWAC League meet in the Southwestern Oregon Tournament the month after.

“We are extremely excited to have three athletes qualifying for the NWAC Golf Championships in year one of our program. We look forward to future success in the coming years,” said Olsen as he spoke highly of his players and their accomplishments.

The NWAC Golf Championships will take place from May 19 to 20 at the Apple Tree Resort Golf Course at Yakima, where the top 72 golfers of NWAC will battle out for the men’s and women’s golfing titles. Tee time will be at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, and 8 a.m. on Monday, May 20.
