Three finalists line up for Griffin School District Superintendent position

Griffin School District announced three finalists for its Superintendent position after preliminary interviews witnessed by approximately 30 people online.

From 12 applicants, the board picked six candidates to undergo the preliminary interviews and selected the three finalists.

“The Board appreciates the time that all of the candidates put into completing the application and interview process,” Griffin School District Board Chair Julie Osterberg said, in a press release.

Students, staff, and the community will interview each candidate on a separate day during community forums, which will be held at the Griffin School Library from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The press release stated that final interviews would cap a two-month process that provided several opportunities for public participation.

The new superintendent is set to be selected on April 19.

Finalists

Dan Gregory, the current Assistant Superintendent of Peninsula School District.

Finalist 1 is Dan Gregory, the current Assistant Superintendent of Peninsula School District. Gregory has 33 years of experience as an educator, secondary mathematics teacher, building administrator, principal, and assistant principal in two districts. Gregory also taught at a school in Nigeria and has experience implementing district-level initiatives in Peninsula.

Dr. Cindy Orr, the current Executive Director for the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections in Boise.

Finalist 2 is Dr. Cindy Orr, the current Executive Director for the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections in Boise. She oversees three high schools housed within detention facilities in Idaho. Orr has also worked as an Associate Professor of Innovations of Learning at Northwest Nazarene University, as an elementary teacher, and as a principal.

Kirsten Rue, the current Director of Student Achievement for the North Thurston School District.

Finalist 3 is Kirsten Rue, current Director of Student Achievement for the North Thurston School District. Rue has experience as a high school teacher and then held leadership positions at the Olympia School District. She worked on programs that provide opportunities for all learners and build social and emotional learning skills through restorative practices and multi-tiered systems of support.
