Thurston Community Media (TCMedia) bagged the “Best Informational Talk Show Series” Award for its “Mission Nonprofit” series at the Alliance for Community Media's Hometown Media Awards competition in New York on June 26, 2023.
The Alliance’s annual awards program recognizes community media, community radio, and local cable programs distributed on cable television channels on Public, Educational, and Governmental (PEG) access.
“We are honored to be recognized for our work highlighting local organizations and agencies affecting positive change in our community,” says Mission Nonprofit Host and TCMedia Producer, Robert Kam.
Kam included The JOLT News Organization, the nonprofit that operates this news service, as its November 2022 subject.
Other Thurston County nonprofits featured in the winning series included: Mentor Washington, Our Ark, Olympia Historical Society and Bigelow House Museum, Thurston Kiwanis Club, Christlike Agrotourism for Racial Equality (CARE), Arbutus Folk School, Olympia Chorus, Dancing Dragons, Window Seat Media, The Washington Center for the Performing Arts, and Olympia Film Society (OlyFilm).
TCMedia’s “Mission Nonprofit” segment has aired monthly on its community access channels for over 25 years, is available on-demand here and recently became available as a podcast.
