A sergeant employed at the Thurston County jail has been arrested following a criminal investigation into allegations of voyeurism.
According to a Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) police report, deputies responded to a report of a sex offense early Sunday morning, May 18.
Following initial interviews, it was determined that the suspect was a current TCSO sergeant.
In response, TCSO requested the Olympia Police Department (OPD) to lead an independent investigation to avoid any conflict of interest.
TCSO immediately placed the sergeant on administrative leave, confiscating a badge and issued firearm.
During the investigation, OPD was able to establish probable cause for first-degree voyeurism. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail later that day.
Digital evidence was collected at the suspect’s residence after authorities executed the search warrant.
Meanwhile, TCSO has opened an internal investigation.
”Once the evidence is processed and a report is made available to TCSO, the internal investigation will be completed and further action can be taken at that time," the sheriff's department said.
