Residents of Thurston County now have an opportunity to improve their home’s energy efficiency and comfort through Energize Thurston, a new program designed to make the switch to electric heat pumps easier and more affordable.
The initiative, supported by local governments and South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity, aims to help homeowners and renters transition to heat pumps — an efficient, all-electric solution for heating, cooling and water heating.
Participants will have access to exclusive discounts, rebates and installation support, with additional financial assistance available for income-qualified households.
Interested residents can begin by attending a free educational workshop, where they’ll learn about heat pump technology, cost savings and available incentives.
Afterward, they can request a free home assessment from vetted installers who will recommend the best system for their needs.
Eligible households earning up to 120% of the area median income (AMI) may receive partial or full funding for their heat pump installation.
People moving forward with the program will get streamlined assistance in securing rebates and financing options to cover the costs.
The benefits of heat pumps include energy-efficient heating and cooling for year-round comfort and lower energy bills compared to traditional heating systems. Heat pumps also support Thurston County’s climate action goals by reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
Energize Thurston is open to all residents within Thurston County.
