Thurston County Sheriff's Office partners with state agency for traffic enforcement in school zones

Posted
The Thurston County Sheriff's Office is teaming up with the Washington State Patrol for an enhanced traffic enforcement effort in school zones this week.

"We frequently receive complaints about speeding vehicles in school zones, and this effort is aimed at improving safety where our children are most vulnerable," said Sheriff Derek Sanders in a social media post on Tuesday, Jan. 6.

"In just 25 minutes today, 15 vehicles were stopped for speeding in a single school zone. This emphasis will continue throughout the week. Please slow down — our children are our future."

The traffic enforcement effort comes about a week after the sheriff's office arrested five motorists for allgedly driving under the influence during a beefed up effort to snare impaired drivers  on New Year's Eve. The effort also resulted in 66 traffic stops.

Absolutely needed, when we think of safety for our children, This is What we want. We are NOT concerned about WOKE Ideologies. It's Common sense! The politics are BS.

True it's a good thing. I hope they also do something about all the cars blocking the roads and driveways while they drop of students.
