Thurston County weather forecast calls for overnight lows below freezing

The final weekend of January is shaping up to be a cold one with overnight lows dropping into the low- to mid-20s.

The National Weather Service forecast for Thurston County calls for a high near 44 degrees on Saturday, Jan. 25, with wind chill values between 22 degrees and 32 degrees and a north, northeast wind of around 6 miles per hour (MPH) in the afternoon.

The outlook is much colder for Saturday evening with a low around 25 degrees and a north, northeast wind of 6 mph.

Conditions are similar on Sunday, Jan. 26, with a high near 44 degrees with sunny skies and a calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon. The forecast for Sunday evening includes mostly clear skies with a low around 25 degrees and a northeast wind of 3 to 6 mph.

The start of next week should bring more of the same with a high near 45 degrees and sunny skies on Monday, Jan. 27. The low should be around 26 degrees.

Rain then enters the forecast as the week progresses with a chance of precipitation on Wednesday, Jan. 29, and rain likely on Thursday, Jan. 30, the National Weather Service said.
