The opening weekend of the new year is going to feel a lot like the closing weekend of last year — wet.
The National Weather Service forecast calls for a 90 percent chance of precipitation on Saturday, Jan. 4, with up to one-half inch of rain during the day. The high should be near 48 degrees with a south wind of 8-11 miles per hour (mph).
The outlook dims on Saturday evening with a 100 percent chance of precipitation and up to one-half inch of rain. The low should be around 44 degrees with a south wind of 11-15 mph.
The forecast improves on Sunday, Jan. 5, with the chance of precipitation at 70 percent and less than one-tenth inch of rain during the day. The high should be near 51 degrees with a southwest wind around 7 mph.
There is a 30 percent chance of rain on Sunday evening with mostly cloudy skies and low around 41 degrees.
The forecast brightens at the beginning of the week with the sun expected to make an appearance on Monday, Jan. 6, amid a 20 percent chance of rain before 10 a.m. and a high near 49 degrees.
There should be areas of fog on Monday evening after 10 p.m. with partly cloudy skies and a low around 36 degrees.
Areas of fog are expected on Tuesday, Jan. 7, mainly before 10 a.m. with partly sunny skies thereafter and a high near 47 degrees.
