The Thurston County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) approved yesterday, October 25, the purchase of five new emergency vehicles amounting to $1,108,905.75.

Emergency Services Interim Director Ben Miller-Todd said the new emergency vehicles, Type I Superliner 171 Body Ford F550, would be deployed in the county in 2024.

The purchase would be under the Houston-Galveston Area Council (HGAC) contract with Life Line Emergency Vehicles.

Miller-Todd said they formed a workgroup in December 2021 to evaluate current medic unit classifications.

Over the past ten months, the workgroup has evaluated specifications from various vendors nationwide. They also set up site visits with regional partners and coordinated with experts on the said matter.

"The committee has identified that they are reliable, provider-centric, and patient-driven in their design lifeline emergency vehicles," said Miller-Todd.

Miller-Todd also assured the BOCC that the vendor went through a competitive bidding process in compliance with state and county regulations.
