Timberline High School locked down for firearm scare

Posted

Lacey Police Department officers were called to Timberline High School yesterday, January 25, at 11:30 a.m. following a school staff alert of a possible firearm brought into the campus.

A photo was shared on Snapchat that day of a student holding what appeared to be a firearm in the school

In their social media post, Lacey PD reported that they have coordinated with the school resource officer and staff to assess the situation.

A search led to identifying and locating the student within a classroom, who did not have a weapon in possession or on the campus.

During the response, Timberline High School implemented a precautionary lockdown protocol, with nearby Lakes Elementary initiating a "lockout" as a preventive measure as well.

The lockdown and lockout were lifted just after noon, and normal activities resumed.

Detectives, in collaboration with the school resource officers, continue investigating the incident with assistance from the school staff.
