Toompas adds to winning total for Port of Olympia Commission, District No. 2 seat

The latest ballot count update in the Nov. 4 General Election showed challenger Jerry Toompas adding to his winning margin in the contest for the Port of Olympia Commission, District No. 2 seat.

His ballot count stood at 39,286 or 49.9 percent, as of 2:42 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, according to data released by the Thurston County Auditor's Office Election Division.

The total ballot count for incumbent Bob Iyall was 39,093 or 49.66 percent. Toompas has added to his winning margin in the last three ballot count updates. 

In the Port of Olympia Commission, District No. 3 race, Krag Unsoeld was well ahead with 40,637 votes or 51.84 percent, compared with 37,351 or 47.65 percent for Anthony Hemstead, as of Nov. 20.

Port of Olympia Commission, District No. 4 candidate Joel Hansen faced no formal opposition . He has piled up 62,123 votes, as of Nov. 20.

The next ballot count update is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 24. The Thurston County Canvassing Board is expected to certify election results on Nov. 25.

    Time will tell if the newly elected leaders will have a significant impact in changing the course of the Port for the better. I will be watching closely.
