Challenger Jerry Toompas increased his lead in the race for the Port of Olympia Commission, District No. 2 seat in the Nov. 4 General Eelction.
Toompas received 39,261 votes or 49.90 percent, according to updated unofficial results from the Thurston County Auditor’s Office Election Division.
Incumbent Bob Iyall pulled in 39,077 votes or 49.66 percent. There were 349 write-in votes or 0.44 percent.
The updated election results were last tabulated at 2:57 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17. It was not clear how many ballots remain to be counted.
Toompas, who is a special education teacher, led Iyall by 152 votes after an updated ballot count was released at 1:10 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10.
In the Port of Olympia Commission, District No. 3 contest Krag Unsoeld defeated Anthony Hemstad. Unsoeld received 40,617 votes, compared with 37,332 votes for Hemstad.
The Thurston County Canvassing Board is expected to certify election results on Nov. 25.
