Posted

Motorists using Interstate 5 between Grand Mound and Tumwater are being warned of slowed traffic from today until Thursday, July 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).

WSDOT said in its press release that crews will be removing trees along both sides of the highways, and can expect occasional rolling slowdowns and traffic stops for up to 15 minutes.

“Crews will start in the northbound lanes and work in one direction at a time,” WSDOT instructed. “During the traffic stops, traffic going the other direction will be uninterrupted.”

Motorists passing through the work zones are asked to follow the following guidelines:

  • Slow down – drive the posted speeds; they’re there for your safety.
  • Be kind – our workers are out there helping to keep you safe and improve the roadways.
  • Pay attention – both to workers directing you and surrounding traffic.
  • Stay Calm – expect delays, leave early or take alternate routes if possible; no meeting or appointment is work risking someone’s life.

Additional information is available at the WSDOT site, the WSDOT app available in Google Play or the App Store, or the WSDOT Travel Center Map.
