Travel Advisory: If you're heading west on Hwy 101 this weekend

I-5 southbound access to Hwy 101 and parts of Deschutes Pkwy will be closed both mornings

If you're headed toward west Olympia or Aberdeen on Hwy 101 this weekend from Lacey or Olympia's Eastside, take a note.

Both mornings, Sat. and Sun., Feb. 6 and 7, from 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the Washington State Department of Transportation will be closing two main access points to and from Hwy 101 westbound.  These are:

  1.  The I-5 southbound onramp to Hwy 101 (Exit 104)
  2. Deschutes Parkway SW between Lakeridge Drive Southwest and the Deschutes Parkway onramp to northbound Interstate 5.

But there's a detour, and it's about a 1.5 mile U-turn:

  1. Travel southbound I-5, to Trosper Road
  2. Exit there, and get back onto I-5 northbound.
  3. Take northbound I-5 exit 104 onto US 101.

Why the disruption?  Trimming trees that might be hazardous or block drivers' views.  For safety reasons, the work must be performed during daylight hours.
