The Tumwater City Council formally closed out work related to the Antsen Sewer Project at a meeting on Tuesday, March 3.
The project resulted in 1,425 feet of a new pressurized sewer line along Antsen Street.
A&D Enterprises was hired to construct the pipeline under a contract capped at $321,000. The work was completed for $305,000, which was also below the city engineer’s estimate of $376,000.
The project was physically completed on June 23, 2025. The council’s action approves final acceptance of the work and authorizes release of the project’s performance bond.
The project also involved the decommissioning of an old lift station at Lake Park Drive and Linwood Avenue.
At a Public Works Committee meeting on Feb. 19, Colby Fletcher, of the city’s engineering department, said removing the outdated lift station improved the sewer system’s performance and allowed removal of hardware from the unused station, which posed a safety risk.
Removing it also increased pumping capacity at two lift stations at the nearby Streamland and Suncrest neighborhoods. The two stations, which were previously served by a single pipeline, were also separated as part of the project.
