Tumwater School District appoints representatives to Thurston Regional Planning Council

Posted

Tumwater School District Director of Capital Projects and Facilities Alec Burkheimer is the district's new primary representative to the Thurston Regional Planning Council (TRPC) and Director Ty Kuehl is the alternate.

The TRPC is a regional planning organization established under Washington law that convenes elected officials and representatives of regional agencies to coordinate policy discussions on growth, transportation, housing, infrastructure, environmental sustainability, economic vitality and overall community livability.

“TRPC serves as a collaborative forum where jurisdictions and public agencies consider regional challenges, evaluate policy alternatives, and align long-range planning efforts. The (council) also develops annual legislative priorities and advocates for policy and funding solutions that support the region,” stated TRPC Director of Facilities Mel Murray in a report.

As a member agency, the district participates in regional discussions to ensure interests in enrollment growth, school capacity planning, transportation impacts, land use decisions, infrastructure coordination and community development are represented.

The Tumwater School District Board of Directors unanimously appointed the individuals to their positions at a meeting on May 21.
