Posted

A celebration of military children is going to take place this weekend in Tumwater.

The Tumwater School District is hosting the Month of the Military Child event on Saturday, April 18. The event will include a continental breakfast and music from the America’s First Corps Band.

All military-connected students and families are invited to the event to be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Peter G. Schmidt Elementary School, 237 Dennis St. SE in Tumwater.

“These students show strength, adaptability, and resilience every day, and we’re honored to recognize them,” stated the school district in a social media post.

This event is also open to anyone who would like to show support for military children.

Interested attendees are asked to sign up on an online form, and state the count and names of attendees and corresponding affiliations.

It’s nice to see the community making military kids feel part of the community.

Why not celebrate all children on military Children's Day? Doesn't it seem strange to not include all children as though military children are somehow different?

I've never seen any studies or claims that military children are any different than regular children.
