Tumwater’s community tradition, Santa Stop, returns this month on Wednesdays leading to Christmas Day.
Santa Stops will be held at Tumwater Hill Park, Kindred Park, and a new indoor location, Tumwater Fire Department, at 311 Israel Rd SW.
“Santa is so excited to return for another year of Santa Stops in Tumwater! We will work with Santa as best we can to make sure he makes it to all his stops, but if there is bad weather, his reindeer might not be able to make the journey," the event’s site stated.
"We will keep our fingers (and hooves) crossed that this doesn't happen.”
Locals are encouraged to check Tumwater’s Santa Stop site and Facebook page for updates to stay in the loop about Santa's travel plans for this year.
The event site also clarified that Santa has specific routes to and from each Santa Stop location and will not make any stops in any neighborhoods.
The Tumwater Fire Department, Firefighter's Union, volunteer firefighters, city staff, Thurston County Food Bank, Tumwater School District, and community volunteers work together annually for this community event.
Santa’s first activity at Tumwater Hill Park on December 4 will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 7 p.m. The outdoor event happens with good cheer and candy canes for children. Visitors may pose for a photo with Santa, sing a carol or two, and join in the spirit of holiday giving.
Similar to the first stop, the second stop at Kindred Park on December 11 features outdoor activities families can enjoy.
For those seeking a more indoor experience, Santa will stop at the Tumwater Fire Department Headquarters Station for the first time on December 18. This event will offer cookies, hot cocoa, and an ornament decorating station.
At every stop, Santa and his elves can accept non-perishable food or cash donations for the Thurston County Food Bank.

Curious who chooses where parks are built in Tumwater and where Santa visits. Seems the Preserve is a favorite of Tumwater!
