Two alleged Nazi supporters arrested, cache of illegal weapons recovered in Lacey raid

Posted

Two alleged Nazi supporters were arrested on Tuesday morning, June 3, in a multi-agency law enforcement operation in Lacey, which also led to the seizure of dozens of illegal weapons, explosives and military gear.

Authorities were investigating the theft of military-grade equipment, which ultimately led them to a residential property in 3000 block of Puget Meadow Loop NE.

A search warrant was executed by members of an FBI SWAT team, with support from the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) and U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID).

An FBI SWAT team executed the warrant, which resulted in the seizure of short barrel rifles, an MG42 machine gun, grenade launchers, explosives, body armor, ammunition, and ballistic helmets surrounded by Nazi paraphernalia,” TCSO Sheriff Derek Sanders said in a social media post.

Two individuals, identified by police records as 26-year-old Charles Fields and 27-year-old Levi Austin Frakes, were arrested at the scene and booked into Thurston County Corrections Facility on charges of unlawful possession of short-barreled rifle and unlawful possession of explosives without a license. Federal charges are expected as the investigation continues.

The suspects identified in this case were actively involved in Nazi White Nationalist efforts,” Sheriff Sanders added.

Bail was set at $500,000 for each defendant at a hearing in Thurston County Superior Court.

These guys probably had something bad planned. However, they are being charged with possession of illegal weapons etc. What they did was possess but not offend directly against someone. They get the full bail asked by the prosecutors. Seems perfectly reasonable regardless.

But WHY are other offenders, who are not just possessing but actively OFFENDING (frequently repeat offending at that) against other people (assault against others, police officers, fleeing in stolen vehicles etc) getting little slap on the hand bails set far below what the prosecutors ask?

@ JW re: bail/bond - I strongly suspect that the high amount of bail/bond was set was because THIS time the Feds were involved and not solely "the locals" who our activist (and politically sensitive) judiciary seem willing to blow off.
