Two downtown Olympia intersections to close for flag markings

A couple of intersections in downtown Olympia will be closed to thru traffic for two nights this week in order for contractors to apply flag markings.

The intersection at Columbia Street and Legion Way, and 5th Avenue and Washington Street, will be closed to thru traffic on Wednesday, May 20, and Thursday, May, 21, from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.

"Contractors will be applying Pride and Transgender flag markings, respectively, at these intersections," said the City of Olympia Public Works Department in a construction and traffic alert.

"Street and sidewalk detours will be in place. Please follow alternate routes and obey all traffic control."
