Thurston County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle off Johnson Point Road NE early morning Saturday, November 11, TCSO reported in a social media post.

Upon arrival, a deputy observed an individual entering a truck, which promptly left the scene upon the deputy's arrival. The deputy relayed license plate information for the vehicle to dispatch before the truck disappeared from sight.

Dispatch notified TCSO that the truck was reported stolen, according to Tumwater Police Department records.

In body camera footage from one of the deputies, authorities are seen approaching the vehicle after it was located on Sleater-Kinney Road NE.

“I happened to locate the vehicle as it passed me on Sleater-Kinney Road NE. After pulling behind it, the vehicle pulled into a driveway and a felony stop was initiated”, TCSO Sheriff Sanders stated.

Both the driver and passenger were detained without incident.

The driver was booked on charges of possessing a stolen vehicle and on a felony TCSO warrant for burglary, identity theft, and retail theft.

“The passenger lied about his name, but thanks to our partners at Lacey PD, we were able to fingerprint him on the side of the road with their fingerprint scanner” TCSO stated.

The passenger was subsequently booked for criminal impersonation, a felony Department of Corrections (DOC) escape warrant for assault with a deadly weapon, and a felony TCSO warrant for assaulting a law enforcement officer.
