Two women were taken into custody for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars worth of Ulta Beauty products from multiple stores, including locations in Lacey and Olympia.

According to a Lacey Police Department report, workers at the Ulta Beauty store (1230 Marvin Road NE in Lacey) observed two women concealing merchandise and contacted law enforcement.

The workers provided responding officers with a photo of the vehicle the women were using that day. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and arrested Madalina Didu, 32, and Rina Sandu, 29, both of Kent.

During an interview, the two women initially admitted to taking some items.

However, it was later determined the women were in possession of thousands of dollars of Ulta merchandise. Officers found the beauty products inside the vehicle used by the two women.

Closed circuit television footage from stores visited by the two women allegedly showed the suspects stealing merchandise. The footage was obtained from a number of store locations, including Lacey, Olympia, Lakewood, Issaquah and Redmond.

In the theft at the Ulta store in Lacey, the value of stolen items totaled $9,100. At the Olympia store, the two suspects reportedly stole $11,600 worth of beauty products. The dollar value of stolen items from the other stores was not included in the report.

Both Didu and Sandu were arrested and booked into the Thurston County Corrections Facility for first-degree organized retail theft.
