ULINE helps Lacey Police Department respond to crisis calls

Posted

A $2,500 donation from ULINE to the Lacey Police Department is going toward an emergency resource that provides immediate assistance to people exposed to domestic violence, sexual assault or sudden loss.

The money will help reinforce the Compassionate Community Fund. The fund enables officers to arrange hotel stays, food, clothing, fuel and phone activation for individuals in distress when no other service is immediately reachable.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Oct. 23, the department said ULINE sent $2,000 last year for the same purpose.  ULINE is a distributor of shipping, industrial and packaging materials.

Lacey Police Department Chief Robert Almada said he was thankful for the donation.

“We’re here to partner with ULINE and continue our relationship with them. They provided us with a very generous check, which helps our Compassionate Care Fund. It helps us to provide help to those in need and people in crisis,” said Almada in a video released on Oct. 23.

Almada explained how the donation is put to work in calls for service.

“It helps us get people in touch with our services. They get to activate their cellphones, so they can get contacted by service providers. We give people tanks of gas to keep them going on the road and get to work,” he said.

He added the continued aid translates to real outcomes.

“There’s a variety of needs that this funding helps to support, and it really helps people in crisis to maintain happy, healthy lives. So, we really appreciate that partnership,” he said.

They could have donated a hundred times as much and not felt it but the folks that own Uline are too busy trying to bring about a Christian nationalist state.

I’m sure the people who run the ULINE Warehouse in Lacey are good and community minded. Perhaps they and City do not know that in other ULINE warehouses across the country, substandard wages are paid to Mexican workers brought in illegally under a “training” visa program.. The workers get shuttled back and forth and live in poor conditions while working for these warehouses.

ULINE, is Wisconsin-based office supply company owned by one of Donald Trump’s biggest financial backers. They have built a business that undermines local wages and jobs causing some of the very crises situations the City is attempting to address with its program. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/feb/12/uline-trump-mega-donors-underpaid-mexican-workers?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
