Underground utility work to cause traffic lane restrictions in Tumwater

Posted

Motoring around certain parts of Tumwater will be a little more challenging next week because of underground utility work.

The work is planned for Monday, April 7, through Friday, April 11, along Kingswood Drive SW and Littlerock Road SW, the City of Tumwater said in announcing the project.

Work on Kingswood Drive SW between Littlerock Road SW and Tyee Drive SW will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 7-8. The work is being done by a private contractor.

"Signs will direct motorists through the work zone. Two-way traffic will be maintained," the City of Tumwater said.

The project will be followed by work on existing underground utilities on Littlerock Road between Israel Road and 70th Avenue and Kingswood Drive on April 8-11.

"To minimize traffic disruptions, the work will take place at night, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. During the work hours, northbound traffic on Littlerock (Road) will be diverted onto Odegard (Road) then north or south on Tyee (Drive)," the City of Tumwater said.

"Flaggers will be present to direct local traffic. Normal traffic operations will be restored during the day. Bicyclists should consider alternate routes or detour to sidewalks through the work zone."

Motorists, pedestrians and cyclists are urged to use caution when traveling through the work zones and use alternate routes if possible.

People are should call (360) 252-5408 with questions or concerns.

Road construction projects are subject to change due to a number of factors, including weather, equipment and project delays.
