Dennis Goodwin Olson was born in Tacoma, Washington, on Jan. 30, 1949. He died suddenly on Feb. 27, 2026.
Dennis loved the outdoors; mountain climbing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, fishing and building projects were favorite pastimes. He always had time to help others share in his outdoor adventures.
Dennis received his bachelor's degree from Pacific. Lutheran University, and a master's degree in social work from the University of Washington. He worked in research and program administration at the state and university levels.
Wherever he was, Dennis envisioned a better world and strived to achieve that goal.
Dennis will be remembered for his big heart, his visionary approach to work and life, his great sense of humor, and his devotion to family and friends.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Kathy Chapman, his daughter, Emily Olson, his granddaughter, Kristen Olson, his great grandson, Brandon, and his siblings, Carol Houston, George Olson, Teresa Olson, Janice Treen, and his nephew, Joel Olson.
