Olympia is warning motorists of several road closures in the coming days.

State Avenue will be temporarily closed as part of the State Avenue Safety Improvements Projects, while a section of Legion Way SE will be closed for a construction plan.

State Avenue Safety Improvements Project set to resume

The State Avenue Safety Improvements Projects is gearing up for its next phase of construction, with work set to resume this week and continue through Tuesday, September 26th.

The upcoming work includes the installation of various crucial components, such as pedestrian signal poles and push-buttons, traffic signal vehicle detection equipment, and a traffic signal controller cabinet.

This project aims to enhance safety measures along State Avenue, a vital roadway in the city.

These additions are designed to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety along State Avenue.

State Avenue between Pear and Chestnut Street will be closed on the night of Monday, September 25, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. of September 26 for the installation of a traffic signal controller cabinet.

Detour routes will be marked to guide traffic around the work zone.

Legion Way SE section closure for construction plan

A brief road closure will affect commuters on Friday, September 29th, as a section of Legion Way SE, stretching from Jefferson to Cherry Streets SE, shuts down from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The temporary closure is essential to support a concrete pour for the new construction project underway at the 500 block of Legion.

Detour signs will be placed to guide motorists through alternative routes during the closure.

However, it is recommended to avoid this area if possible, as traffic delays are anticipated.
