San Jose VTA Shooting
A mass shooting in San Jose left nine people dead Wednesday morning. Reports of a shooting at a Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) union meeting first came in shortly after 6:30 a.m. The shooting occurred inside a building at the railyard.
Among the deceased was the shooter, a 57-year-old VTA technician who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
*As a reminder, when the U.S. flag is flown at half-staff or half-mast, it should first be raised to the top for an instant, then immediately lowered to the half-staff or half-mast position. Prior to lowering the flag, it should be raised once more to the peak, then lowered.
The JOLT does not name mass shooters unless there is an immediate local threat to public safety.
