A Shelton man has been charged with two felonies after allegedly assaulting and pointing a gun at a man he had just met on the day of the incident.

Christopher Michael Dailey, 50, was charged with first-degree assault and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm by the Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney on May 18.

The man who was allegedly assaulted by Dailey told police that he and the suspect met at a bar on May 17.

When the man learned that Dailey was a veteran just like him and needed a place to stay for the night, he offered the suspect his living room couch.

The two had dinner and drinks at the apartment that the man shared with his fiancée, according to the police report. The man said he then allowed Dailey to use his laptop but later noticed that the suspect was watching pornography.

The man became upset with Dailey, he told police, and the two of them got into a verbal argument that quickly became physical. The man said Dailey punched him in the face multiple times. Police noted a “large contusion” above the man’s right eye.

The physical altercation moved from the man’s bathroom area to the living room, where the man put Dailey in a “chokehold,” prompting the suspect to tap out. The two then agreed to stop fighting and shook hands, the police report stated.

The man said he told Dailey to leave but the suspect refused to. The man then noticed that his handgun, a Kimber Micro .380, was not on the kitchen counter, where he said he usually leaves it next to his wallet.

Dailey then pulled out the man’s handgun from his waistband, pointed it at him, yelling “I will kill you right f*cking now! I will kill you,” according to the man.

The man managed to call 911 after getting the suspect to calm down. The two of them argued in the living room until police arrived. The man said he did not want Dailey to leave in fear of what he might do with his firearm.

Dailey was booked into the Thurston County Jail for first-degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm.
