View salmon and bald eagles at Yelm shoreline on Friday

Posted

The Nisqually Land Trust is inviting everyone for a morning of salmon viewing and bird watching on Friday, Jan. 10, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their binoculars and cameras for sightings of great blue herons, dark-eyed juncos, kingfishers and others.

“Since we are at the end of this particular run, we will see several spawned-out salmon in addition to those still working their way upstream,” the organization said in a newsletter.

The event will be held at the Nisqually Valley Farm—Yelm Shoreline. Registration is required for full directions.

“This has been the largest winter chum run in the Nisqually in recent memory, and we look forward to sharing it with you,” the organization said in a newsletter.

The Nisqually Land Trust is an independent, private, nongovernmental organization with a mission to acquire and manage critical lands to permanently benefit the water, wildlife and people of the Nisqually River Watershed.
