I-5 Closed from Chehalis to Grand Mound; Tumwater, all Grays Harbor schools closed

Heavy flooding has been reported along most rivers, Capitol Lake in Olympia and along ocean beaches, including areas in Lewis, Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties.

Here are announced delays and closures: 

Road Closures

Interstate 5 closed from Chehalis to Grand Mound

Tumwater

Road Closure – Water Over Roadway:  Tyee Drive between Trosper Road SW and Kingswood Drive SW

 Expect Additional Road Closures due to Urban Flooding

Tyee Drive SW is currently closed between Trosper Road SW and Kingswood Drive SW due to water over the roadway. It will reopen when conditions improve enough to allow safe passage.

Drivers should use alternate routes and avoid driving through standing water or around barricades.

Tumwater Valley Drive will be closing. Additional road closures are anticipated over the next few days with urban flooding in various areas of the City due to melting snow and heavy rainfall.

There is a flood watch in effect through Friday night for the Deschutes River, with minor flooding in the Tumwater Valley that will impact the golf course and parks near the river.

Child Care

South Sound YMCA-Child Care Services:

Littlerock Friday due to flooding in the area staff are not able to get to the school.

South Sound YMCA-Child Care Services: Tumwater programs closed due to school closure stay safe.

* WHAT...Minor coastal flooding expected.

* WHERE...Tacoma Area, San Juan County, Western Whatcom County,
  Hood Canal Area, Southwest Interior, Everett and Vicinity,
  Western Skagit County, Seattle and Vicinity, Bremerton and
  Vicinity and Admiralty Inlet Area.

* WHEN...From 8 AM to noon PST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding, one to two feet above ground level,
  is possible around high tide. This may lead to flooding of
  lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures
  expected.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be
closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of
unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 PM PST THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues.

* WHERE...Portions of northwest Washington and west central
  Washington, including the following counties, in northwest
  Washington, Grays Harbor and Mason. In west central Washington,
  Lewis and Thurston.

* WHEN...Until 200 PM PST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. It will take
  several hours for all the water from these storms to work through
  local drainage systems in urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 356 AM PST, 24 hour rainfall totals ending early Friday
    morning in the warning area ranged from 3 to 6 inches.
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to a half inch are possible in
    the warned area.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Olympia, Aberdeen, Centralia, Shelton, Hoquiam, Montesano,
    Toledo, Moclips, Lacey, Tumwater, Chehalis, Yelm, Ocean

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
