A sunny afternoon that brought out cyclists, runners and parents with baby strollers to local parks and outdoor areas on Tuesday, March 25, is giving way to a batch of wet weather.
The National Weather Service (NWS) Office in Seattle forecast calls for rain the rest of the week with a potential for severe thunderstorms in Thurston County on Wednesday, March 26.
Showers are likely on Wednesday with thunderstorms possible after 5 p.m. The high should be near 70 degrees with a calm wind out of the west picking up to 5 to 8 miles per hour (mph) in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
“New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms,” the forecast states.
The overnight low should be around 45 degrees with a south wind of 6 to 8 mph. Showers and a possible thunderstorm are possible. The chance of precipitation is 100 percent.
“New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible,” the forecast states.
The likelihood of thunderstorms should cease on Thursday, March 27, although rain remains in the forecast along with breezy conditions. The forecast calls for a high near 58 degrees on Thursday with a south, southwest wind of 7 to 13 mph and gusts as high as 26 mph.
The chance of precipitation is 90 percent.
“New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible,” the forecast states.
The overnight low should be around 45 degrees with a 100 percent chance of precipitation. Rain is also in the forecast from Friday, March 28, through Sunday, March 30.
