Wind and rain on the way to Thurston County

A bruising string of subfreezing overnight lows is going to give way to warmer temperatures and a fair amount of rain to close out the month.

The National Weather Service Office in Seattle forecast calls for a daytime high near 48 degrees on Tuesday, Jan. 27, with rain likely after 4 p.m. New rainfall of less than one-tenth of an inch is possible.

The overnight low should be around 42 degrees with a south wind around 6 miles per hour (mph). There is an 80 percent chance of precipitation, with new rainfall of less than one-tenth of an inch possible.

Conditions are forecast to intensify on Wednesday, Jan. 28, with heavier rain and wind. The daytime high should be near 50 degrees, with a south wind of 8 to 10 mph and gusts as high as 24 mph. New rainfall between one-tenth and one-quarter inch is possible.

The overnight low should be around 46 degrees, with a south wind around 10 mph and gusts as high as 23 mph. There is a 90 percent chance of precipitation, with new rainfall between one-quarter and one-half inch possible.

There is also a 90 percent chance of rain on Thursday, Jan. 29, with new precipitation amounts between one-quarter and one-half inch possible. Rain is also likely on Friday, Jan. 30. Forecasts are subject to change.
