A winter weather advisory is in effect for Thurston County because of precipitation that moved in from the south on Thursday morning, Feb. 13, that led to a mix of rain and snow in the region.
The advisory, which is in place until 8 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, was issued on Thursday by the National Weather Service Office in Seattle.
“Wet snow expected. Additional snow accumulations up to (2) inches,” the advisory states.
The NWS also cautioned motorists to slow down while driving, and urged people to be prepared for power outages.
The forecast calls for an overnight low around 31 degrees with rain and snow likely after 11 p.m. on Thursday. Rain and snow are likely before 7 a.m. on Friday before precipitation moves out of the area as the day progresses.
The high should be near 44 degrees on Friday with mostly sunny skies and a southwest wind around 6 miles per hour in the afternoon. There is a 20 percent chance of rain on Friday evening with an overnight low around 33 degrees and a south wind of 3-6 mph.
Rain is likely after 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15. The high should be near 43 degrees.
