Woman arrested for alleged assault in Olympia

 A 20-year-old woman was arrested in connection with an assault that left another person hospitalized with serious injuries. 

 According to an Olympia Police Department report, the incident occurred in the early morning hours of July 6 in a parking lot in the 100 block of Franklin Street NE.  

The suspect, identified in a police report as Jarah Brenda Humphrey, reportedly confronted the victim in the parking lot.  

In a police interview with the victim, she stated that Humphrey punched her in the face, causing her to fall. She said the suspect confronted her about rumors spreading, but did not wait to get an answer from her.  

 As she (the victim) was attempting to answer Humphrey's questions, Humphrey punched her in the mouth with her right hand/fist,” the police report states.

 The victim lost consciousness and was transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia for treatment of a broken wrist and a possible broken nose. 

The victim positively identified Humphrey in a photo lineup, as the person who assaulted her, the police report states.

When authorities contacted the suspect, she denied assaulting the victim and declined to provide a statement. She was booked her into the Thurston County Jail on suspicion of second-degree assault. 

Humprhey is scheduled to be arrainged in Thurston County Superior Court on Tuesday, July 22, court records show.
