Olympia Police caught a woman attempting to live in a display-home showroom on Sunday, April 18.

Jennifer Whalen, 41, was apprehended after being located in DeTray's of Olympia’s display lot. The business is set up to display models of manufactured and mobile homes; none of the units are livable in their current, non-setup state.

Whalen had tripped a burglar alarm at the 3801 Pacific Avenue building #11 on 11:49 p.m.

Olympia Police arrived at 12:07 a.m., locating two open windows and one broken one. The building Whalen is accused of occupying had recently been the scene of an arson and was deemed by the owner Del DeTray, 66, as a “total loss.”

Whalen was located inside the building, hiding in a closet and detained, cited for trespass.
