A 27-year-old woman is facing multiple charges stemming from an alleged shoplifiting incident at a local department store.

Sabrina Michelle Daniel, of Olympia, was charged on Wednesday, Oct. 15, in Thurston County Superior Court with second-degree theft and use of drug paraphernalia in connection with the crime at JCPenney, 625 Black Lake Blvd SW, Olympia.

According to an Olympia Police Department report, JCPenney store security personnel observed Daniel on video surveillance taking items and concealing them in her clothing before leaving the department store without paying on Saturday, Oct. 11.

The merchandise, which was valued at roughly $1,035, was recovered by store staff before police officers arrived.  The merchandies included jewelry.

When police officers took Daniel into custody, they found drug paraphernalia in her possession, including glass pipes, straws, foil and plastic baggies, the report states.

Investigators said Daniel admitted to consuming fentanyl prior to her arrest, and claimed that she was pregnant and had a broken leg.

Paramedics were called after the suspect became unresponsive while being detained. She was evaluated at MultiCare Capital Medical Center in Olympia, where medical staff cleared her for booking after determining she was in stable condition.

“Staff informed me Sabrina was not pregnant, had no concerns about her leg, and her vitals were stable,” a responding officer stated in the police report.

Danniel was then transported to Thurston County Corrections Facility after she was medically cleared at the hospital.
