The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is warning the public about a scam involving fraudulent text messages that pose as toll payment notices.
According to a WSDOT social media post, scammers are sending text messages claiming recipients have overdue bills and must make immediate payments to avoid legal consequences.
The messages direct users to a fake website designed to mimic the official Good To Go! toll payment system.
Officials emphasize that WSDOT does not send unsolicited payment requests via text.
Any legitimate notifications about toll balances or payments can be verified through the user’s online account dashboard.
WSDOT said individuals without a Good To Go! account should not receive toll-related texts from the agency.
Drivers concerned about their toll payments are urged to visit the Good To Go! official website — the only official website for Good To Go! services. Any other web links included in text messages should be treated as fraudulent.
WSDOT advises anyone who receives a suspicious message to ignore it, avoid clicking on links and report the scam.

I got one of these scam texts last week. I've never used the Good to Go pass because I don't drive further north than Lakewood and I stay off toll roads. I even drive the long way 'round to avoid crossing the Narrows Bridges, mostly because I hate paying for something that I paid for years ago. But.......
Keep your eyes out, folks. The scammers are filthy slimy thieves.

I've been receiving daily texts regarding this scam for about a week now. Different names and phone numbers but always under the guise of WSDOT. Just keep deleting.

This scam is multi-state. Two days ago, I got the same message from the E-Z Pass company in Maryland, where I lived until 3 years ago. The culprits have been able to access data bases, apparently.
