Olympia police were able to stop one of two cars racing through Cooper Point Rd NW, arresting one driver who was nearly three times over the legal limit of intoxication, last Thu., Sep. 2.
Geraldine LeBlanc, 22, of Olympia, blew a .227 on the Draeger after her booking and arrest in the Olympia Jail. The legal blood alcohol limit is .08; the result was nearly three times that figure.
At 1 a.m., a marked Olympia police patrol car was traveling north on Cooper Point Rd NW in the 2600 block and witnessed LeBlanc’s vehicle and another driver speeding past in the opposite direction. According to the police report, both vehicles appeared to be “racing” each other, driving at what the officer estimated to be 60 mph in a 35-mph zone.
The officer observed the two vehicles turn east onto 28th Ave. NW and pursued them with emergency lights on. The police report states that both vehicles were drifting in the lane of travel, going over the fog line and center line twice.
LeBlanc pulled over. The other vehicle sped away.
Police say LeBlanc admitted to having two Budweisers. They say she stumbled out of her vehicle, then stumbled several more times, when asked to perform a voluntary field sobriety test.
The report states that when LeBlanc was asked what time it was, she said 9:30 p.m. It was 1:50 a.m.
When police asked where she was arrested after being stopped, LeBlanc reportedly said “Henderson,” which was 5 miles away on the other side of Olympia.
No information was immediately available about the other vehicle or driver.
