A burglary suspect was booked on multiple charges after allegedly fleeing from Sheriff’s deputies and, while in custody, damaged a newly installed camera in a patrol vehicle.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to a burglary at a residence near Manke Road SE outside of Yelm last night, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrived at the scene and spoke with a person near a vehicle. After authorities learned that the vehicle was listed as stolen, the suspect fled on foot, going over a fence and walking through a field, but was eventually detained.
Inside the stolen car, deputies found property they said was stolen from a burglarized residence.
While en route to jail, the suspect kicked a newly installed camera inside the patrol vehicle, causing damage.
The suspect was booked for possession of a stolen vehicle, second-degree possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, and first-degree malicious mischief.
